Privacy policy

The short version

Capo & Cable is a publisher. We do not sell products, we do not hold accounts, and there is nothing to log in to. We collect analytics about how the site is used, and we pass clicks to Amazon through an affiliate link. We do not sell your data and we do not build profiles about you.

What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read, how people arrive, and which links are clicked. That involves cookies and similar identifiers, and it records information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referring site.

We also record an event when someone clicks a buy link, capturing the page it happened on and which product link it was. That is how we know which recommendations readers find useful. It is not tied to a named individual by us.

Google acts as a data processor for this and its own terms apply. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites using Google's browser add-on, or block cookies in your browser settings — the site works normally either way.

The contact form

If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you send, and the topic you select. That message is delivered to our mailbox by email so we can reply.

The form includes basic anti-spam measures: a hidden field that only automated submissions fill in, a check on how long the form was open before submission, and a per-address submission limit. These process your submission and a network address transiently; they do not create a stored profile.

We keep contact messages only as long as needed to deal with them and to keep a record of corrections. We do not add you to a mailing list — there is no mailing list.

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard technical logs — requests, IP addresses, timestamps, user agents — as part of delivering and securing the site. Those are the host's logs, held under their terms.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not run advertising networks or retargeting pixels.
• We have no accounts, so there are no passwords to lose.
• We do not attempt to identify individual readers from analytics.

Affiliate links

Buy links on this site route through our own /go/ redirect and then to Amazon with our Associates tag attached. Amazon may set its own cookies once you arrive, and what happens on Amazon's site is governed by Amazon's privacy notice, not this one.

We do not receive information about what you buy beyond aggregate commission reporting, which does not identify individual customers. Full detail on the disclosure page.

Cookies

The cookies set on this site come from Google Analytics. There are no advertising cookies, and the site has no functional cookies of its own — nothing here needs to remember you between visits.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Nothing on this site stops working if you do.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, and to object to certain processing. Since the only personal information we hold directly is what you send through the contact form, that is usually a short conversation.
