What this site is for

Somebody has just been given a guitar. They open a shopping site, search for accessories, and get four hundred results sorted by nothing useful — half of them bundles containing eleven things nobody needs.

Capo & Cable exists to shorten that. Six things matter in the first month; the rest can wait, and most of it should. Every recommendation here carries the specifications the maker actually published, a live price where we hold one, and a plain statement of who should skip it.

Who writes it

Scooter M.. An enthusiast who is genuinely into this. I read the manuals, compile the published specs, and check what a thing actually costs today. No lab coat, no test bench, and no drawer of tuners a manufacturer sent me.

That paragraph is deliberately narrow. There is no claim to be a luthier, a guitar tech, a long-time player or an expert of any kind, because none of those would be true, and the easiest way to lose a reader is to make a claim they can falsify.

The thing we say plainly that others do not

We have not played this gear. Not one tuner, not one set of strings, not one capo. Every other guide in this category will tell you it tested twenty of them. We would rather say what we did instead, and let you judge whether it is useful.

What we did: compiled 187 published specification rows across 54 products and cited every one of them; recorded 22 rows where a maker publishes nothing at all; read the manuals rather than the marketing; and wired the whole site to a live price feed so no number here can quietly go stale.

That is a narrower promise than "we tested these". It is one we can keep, and every part of it is checkable from the page you are reading it on. The full method is on how we research.

Why the specs matter more here than elsewhere

Guitar accessories are a category where a surprising number of makers publish nothing measurable. Two tuner brands in our roundups publish no accuracy figure anywhere we could find. Three string brands publish gauges and no tension. Not one case maker publishes a padding thickness.

None of that proves those products are bad. It does mean a buyer comparing them is comparing adjectives, and it means the companies that do publish — Korg, D'Addario, Hercules, String Swing, MusicNomad — are giving you something the others are not. We think that belongs in a buying decision, so it is part of every score on this site.
